Old-century technology – deep ocean cables can be a global observatory to warn tsunami

According to Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences and United Nation’s SMART Cables Joint Task Force, deep ocean optic cables are stretched across a million kilometers on the ocean floor. The current task of research group is testing the concept of the sensors that will allow for low-cost global deep ocean observation to detect temperature, pressure, and seismic acceleration.
